Complaining

My camera is driving me crazy. How can it take such awful photographs? The light and color is different on each photo even though I take a bunch of photos at once. aaagggghhh.
And while I'm in the mood for complaining...Why is it that I can't get an image to transfer even though it seems like I'm doing everything correctly. They just come off with the paper.

Finally an update after all that's happened
Copper, sterling silver, crystal, tiger's eye pendantI love how clear and beautiful the photographs are on Dooce.com. She has a Nikon D70 (I think) Very expensive camera but beautiful pictures. How could my camera take such crappy pictures? I thought that I had found the book for it but it turned out to have only a couple of pages of how to set it up and no other info just a thick book in many lanquages.I've slowly been working on my art journal and techniques for backgrounds and transfering images-no luck what so ever with inljet transfers - but I'm still trying. Can't wait until that Claudine Hellmuth's Collage book gets here. Amazon had it ready to ship last Thursday and the post office picked it up today -SIX DAYS! Then usually it gets lost in Warren-something-or-other Pennsylvania for DAYS! not unlike the Bermuda triangle and finally it will arrive at my house. I should just pay the freaking postage for faster shipping.

The week from hell
My daughter and I had birthdays this week. My parents will be gone on Sunday. The only good thing about them moving is that I've been at the BEST rummage sale I could ever imagine all week. And everthing was free. I have been on an emotional roller coaster. Good thing my one brother was here. "Just let it go, Linda" was what he said to me a million times.
I would have choked my other brother if he had a neck.
So if his name was Lard Head or Lard Ass, then people could just call him Lard for short. "Lard. Hey Lard..."
I got a present. Ciao Italia. I've wanted this cookbook for ages. It looks great and explains about alot of things, like ingredients, etc.

Another "model" photo and more

Here is a link to an outrageous 1960's motel and supper club-"The Gobbler".
"It's going to be a futuristic, state-of-the-art motel with every modern convenience from water beds to 8-tracks. The entire dining area will be covered in deep-pile pink and purple carpet. But wait - here's the best part. It will look like an abstract sculpture of a giant turkey. We'll bill it as a romantic getaway - and call it The Gobbler!"

Photoshopping

I've been learning and trying some new techniques in Photoshop. One I read about here. It's supposed to make a picture look like it's a model. I don't think that this one looks like that without people but I do think that it looks really lovely. Later I will try to find some people to put in it. I took this photo of a coutyard in Rome. I love the colors.

The hat - minus the mullet
Not so good of a pic but the best for now. The "mullet" flap in the back HAD to be ripped out. I just couldn't deal with how that looked AND the ears. For those of you who need to see some guys with "mullets" you can go here. I was surprised, but there are people who don't know what I'm talking about when I make comments about "mullets".

Items that might be of interest to others besides me
Lots of fascinating explanations about the origins of recipes: examples: devil's food cake, chicken wings, Tang, and on and on. Just keep searching you'll find it.
At the 1964 World's Fair I am wondering what the designer for the food pavilion was thinking when he named it the "Festival of Gas" ?
Rhinestone Room Inspiration

An old man spent all his time decorating every spot of his house. This has been salvaged from the house when it was condemned/torn down and is now in a museum. And dang if I can't remember where I saw it. Maybe I came across it when I was trying to find N.C. Wyeth illustrations?
